Earth On Danger? - How Comet Swift Tuttle the Dangerous Universe Object Can Destroy Earth

Comet Swift is a periodic comet with a current orbital period of 133 years. It was discovered independently by Lewis Swift on July 16,1862. The comet is threat because it has orbit that makes repeated close approaches to Earth-Moon system thus it might collide with earth one day. The comet was previously observed by Chinese in the year in 69 BC.

  

How Comet Swift is Threat to Earth 

This is a largest solar system object that makes repeated close approach to earth with relative velocity 60km/s. Its orbital revolution is very difficult to be predicted. The Swift Comet a dangerous universe object is expected to return to the inner solar system in 3044 a next millennium with  closest approach estimated to be 1 million miles. The frequent approach to the earth is a threat and it gives alert how the comet could one day collide with earth.

Previous Observations of Comet Swift

• 1862 - The comet was discovered by Lewis Swift and Harace Parnel Tuttle, then the comet was given their names in honoring their discovery.
• 86 BC -  The Chinese records show the comet was seen and at that period the comet had the same characteristics of what Lewis discovered.
• 1902 - In the year 1737 a guy known Ignatius Kegler observed the comet hence there was suggestion that the comet that was seen in 1902 was the same with the one that was seen in 1737, therefore it was comet Swift.
• 1992 - The calculation made by Brian Marsden in 1973 predicted comet would have been observed in 1992 and the prediction was correct because in that year the comet swift was observed for another time.

 Analysis from Scientists.

If the comet strike the earth the destructive will be in some regions and not whole part of the earth. But the most negative effects will be observed on air particularly in stratosphere a zone where ozone layer is located therefore the gases form comet swift will contribute on destroying ozone and layer. This will result on increasing global warming and level of sea will be rising fast.

Keller of  Princeton University say that the large part of the earth is covered by seas when the comet strike earth might fall on sea, in return this will cause volcanic eruptions in oceans.

Gary W Kronk made a research on previous observations of comet swift and the findings from the calculations showed that its orbit is sufficient stable for the next 2000 years therefore at moment there is no threat from the comet.
